Can anyone give me tips on writing two essays for this class? It's been 15 years since I've writtena college paper and despite reviewing the tools on Study (CMS style with primary/secondary sources), I'm not sure where to start in terms of a guideline...as the rubric isn't helpful either... Thanks for considering...

I usually take each question/section I am supposed to address and add them to the paper. Then, I answer each section one by one. I have found that to be the easiest way to start. Once I have the paper where I think I want it, I take the rubric and tell Chat GPT that I will give it several prompts. Please take the rubric I will provide and see if the essay I am going to provide meets the rubric requirements, and if it doesn't, please point out which sections I need to improve. DO NOT ASK IT TO WRITE IT; only ask for suggestions on where you are not meeting the rubric. Then, with those suggestions, you can make your edits. Additionally, only use the Microsoft Word Spell Check for your paper. Any content that is generated by AI (including Grammarly) will be sent back.

Great tips in the comments!! I'll add on the tips by suggesting the Say, Mean, and Matter methods when it comes to adding quotes in your essay that support your key points. You Say the quote by citing it in your essay, you explain the Meaning of it and finally, you tie it all together by saying why it Matters. This helps get your point across with evidence and buff up your word count.
